VW Polo Singing Dog ad

April 7th, 2008

I was shocked to find out over the weekend that the VW singing dog ad has been pulled off tv!!! Supposedly hundreds of complaints from viewers (Idiots) suspecting animal abuse. The advert has a dog singing when inside the VW Polo and shivering when outside of the car. The advert was very successful on the internet hitting over 500′000 hits on Youtube.

The owner of the dog had trained him to stand on a vibrating plate for the advert. Hollywood animal trainer Steve Berens said:

“I’d train him to stand on the plate, and then have it vibrate lightly until he got used to it, and by the time we came to film the ad he was happy on it. People who think he is distressed are very much mistaken.”

What the hell is wrong with people?! The dog (Bear) was treated fine he is a proffesional acting dog. Have people got nothing better to do than write in and get great adverts taken off tv?! For no reason whatsoever!?

The RSPCA ultimately concluded that no dogs were harmed. So put it back on TV!

Duffy - Syrup & Honey

April 4th, 2008

I feel priveleged having grown up listerning to such bands as The Stones, The Who and artists like Aretha Franklin and Otis Redding. I remember dancing around the kitchen every weekend party we had at home to T-Rex, Fleetwood Mac, Elvis Presley and so many more.

I find the lack of really good artists and songs nowadays very strange. Such songs as ‘These arms of mine’ by Otis Redding had such simple lyrics but were so powerful they physically moved you.

I listen to Virgin Radio every morning on my drive to work and heard a relatively new artist Duffy. Her music reminded me of many different artists of the Soul era, male and female. To me she is a breath of fresh air among all the Indie bands and R&B songs I hear constantly.

Her album Rockferry wasn’t all that great the songs all feeling a little too similar. One song in particular stuck in my mind with it’s minimal lyrics and great southern soul style.

Try it out Syrup and Honey…

New Halo Movie Script

April 2nd, 2008

www.fischart.comStuart Beattie: the Pirates of the Caribbean screenwriter has reportedly written a non-commissioned script for a new movie Halo: Fall of the Reach. Fall of the Reach is the Halo book written by Eric Nylund.

Beattie’s version of this is supposedly loosely based on the novel. It’s about a six year old kid called John who is kidnapped by the United Nations Space Command (UNSC) Forces and then trained to become a Spartan warrior- Master Chief 117.

Beattie is known to be an avid fan of Halo so hopefully if the script is any good Microsoft or Bungie will snap it up and create what could be a great movie. The script also leans towards this being a trilogy with the second movie being named Halo: Rise of the Flood. Which is based entirely on the halo rings. The third named Halo: Battle for Earth which is based around the third game (Halo 3).

Scripts have been written before, one by Alex Garland author of The Beach. Peter Jackson was going to Produce the movie alongside director Neill Blomkamp. But all fell through because of money disagreements with Universal and the movie has been on hold ever since. I just hope whoever does it does not rush it like all game based movies of recent years. All the ones I can think of have been dire!

Legend of Zelda Movie Trailer Premiere (IGN’s April Fool)

April 2nd, 2008

I was browsing a few gaming sites last night and had a look at IGN’s site. Forgetting it was April 1st I fully believed at first that this was a genuine movie trailer :S

After watching it all the way through I was quite dissapointed that the movie would be rubbish. The trailer was terribly casted as Link the boy is played by a man and other characters were just pretty pore lookalikes. Yet! I was still excited at the prospect of a Zelda Movie. Which I’ve always thought is way over due!

Nevertheless I still quite liked the trailer even though I was taken for a fool ;)

Xtra Gamer

April 1st, 2008

Xtra Gamer is a computer gaming blog/review site I have designed for a friend of mine Nick Maunders. He is using Word Press for his blog so I just had to design the template for him. After a while of researching other gaming blogs we decided to use some famous gaming characters in the header and then give the site a flash colour theme. Nick writes alot of gaming reviews for all consoles and is up to date with the new and up and coming games.

Xtra Gamer

Nick has managed to heavily link his blog with some of the larger gaming blogs, which will hopefully help him raise his stats and popularity of his site.

Good Luck Nick and hope the new design helps!
